Montana Heavy Construction Wage Determinations

These documents are three General Decision wage determinations issued by the U.S. Department of Labor for heavy construction projects in Montana, effective May 18, 2026. The determinations establish prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits for construction workers across different Montana county regions under the Davis-Bacon Act.

General Decision MT20260066 covers Montana Counties of Cascade and establishes hourly rates for carpenter (including formwork), electrician, power equipment operators (with zone-based variations for crane and equipment types), ironworker, and plumber classifications. Rates range from $19.99 to $46.45 per hour, with fringe benefits from 3.96% to 25.30%. Zone-based rate adjustments apply based on distance from county courthouses in specified towns (Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, Lewiston, Miles City, and Missoula), with Zone 1 (0-30 miles) as base pay, Zone 2 (30-60 miles) adding $3.00-$3.50 per hour, and Zone 3 (over 60 miles) adding $5.50 per hour. Additional classifications include truck drivers, equipment operators (loader, bobcat, backhoe, asphalt roller), and laborers with rates from $15.14 to $25.00 per hour.

General Decision MT20260075 applies to Montana Counties of Beaverhead, Broadwater, Deer Lodge, Gallatin, Granite, Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, Madison, Meagher, Powell, Silver Bow, and Yellowstone National Park. Wage rates for bricklayers, electricians, line construction workers, power equipment operators, ironworkers, and laborers range from $18.13 to $48.65 per hour with comparable fringe benefit percentages and zone-based adjustments. General Decision MT20260077 covers Montana Counties of Blaine, Chouteau, Fergus, Glacier, Golden Valley, Hill, Judith Basin, Liberty, Musselshell, Petroleum, Pondera, Sweet Grass, Teton, and Wheatland, with similar construction classifications and wage structures. All determinations include notes regarding Executive Orders 13706 and 13658 requiring paid sick leave provisions and minimum wage requirements for federal contractors, effective May 11, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
