About this file

This document is an Ordering Data Sheet for a radioactive source required under a federal contract opportunity. The key details are:

The source is a nine-nuclide gamma calibration source in a 500 ml solid epoxy matrix with a total activity of 3.0 microcuries (-15%, +0%). The source must be NIST-traceable, with activity, emission rates, and uncertainties provided for each nuclide. Surface contamination levels must be below 450 pCi/100cm^2. The source is to be shipped to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in San Diego, CA. Prior to shipping, the vendor must contact the shipyard representative to provide shipment tracking details. Changes to the technical requirements are not allowed without shipyard approval.

The related federal contract opportunity is a pre-solicitation for a radioactive source, with the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command as the contracting agency. Interested parties are invited to request the forthcoming solicitation.

ORDERING DATA SHEET – GENERAL

NOUN NAME: RADIOACTIVE SOURCE

DESCRIPTION:

1 ea Nine nuclide gamma calibration source in the form of 500 ml solid epoxy matrix in customer provided 500 ml bottle.

-Nuclide mixture: Cd-109, Co-57, Te-123m, Cr-51, Sn 113, Sr-85, Cs-137, Y-88, Co-60 with nuclide activity ratios selected to provide similar count rates on typical coaxial high-purity germanium detectors.

-Active volume: 500 ml

-Density of solid: 1.0 g/cc.

-Total source activity shall be 3.0 microcuries (–15%, +0%)

-The vendor must insure that the source activity is not greater than exempt quantity per 10 CFR 30.

-The reported radioactivity uncertainty of each nuclide shall not exceed ± 5% at the 99% confidence level.

-Surface contamination levels on the source and packing materials must be less than 450 pCi/100cm^2.
