About this file

This is a Data Item Description (DID) document, DI-SESS-80776B, that specifies the format, content, and requirements for deliverable Technical Data Packages (TDP) in federal contracts. Approved on August 1, 2019, this DID supersedes the previous version DI-SESS-80776A and applies to AMSC Number 10057 under Project Number SESS-2019-028.

A Technical Data Package serves as the authoritative technical description of an item and must be clear, complete, and accurate to support acquisition, production, inspection, engineering, and logistics activities. The TDP content requirements include one or more of the following elements as applicable to the contract: conceptual engineering design data, developmental engineering design data with associated lists, product engineering design data with associated lists, and commercial engineering design data. For product design data specifically, the package must document unique processes, performance ratings, dimensional and tolerance data, critical manufacturing processes and assembly sequences, toleranced input and output characteristics, diagrams, mechanical and electrical connections, physical characteristics including finishes and coatings, material identification details, inspection and test criteria, equipment calibration requirements, quality assurance requirements, hardware marking requirements, required certifications and environmental testing, vendor substantiation data, software programming requirements, and special consideration items. The TDP may also include Special Inspection Equipment (SIE) design data, Special Tooling (ST) design data, specifications, software documentation, Special Packaging Instructions (SPI), and Quality Assurance Provisions (QAPs), all in accordance with MIL-STD-31000B. Deliverable TDP elements shall be formatted either in the Government's specified format via the TDP Option Selection Worksheet or in contractor format as designated in the contract.
