About this file
This is an Installation Facilities Standards (IFS) document for Mountain Home Air Force Base dated September 5, 2018. The IFS is a comprehensive facilities planning and design standards document that serves as a component plan of the Installation Development Plan (IDP) per Air Force Instruction 32-7062 and is required for compliance by AFI 32-1023. The document implements Air Force Corporate Facilities Standards (AFCFS) at the base level, organized into four major sections: Installation Elements, Site Development, Facilities Exteriors, and Facilities Interiors.
The IFS establishes base-wide standards for facility design and construction across multiple categories including street hierarchies (arterial, collector, local, and special routes), open spaces and public areas (plazas, monuments, parade grounds, parks, perimeter fencing), parking areas with specifications for paving and curbing by facility group, stormwater management, sidewalks and bikeways, landscape design emphasizing xeriscape principles and water conservation, site furnishings (benches, bike racks, bollards, bus shelters, dumpsters, fencing, flagpoles, picnic tables, and play equipment), exterior signage (installation gates, building identification, traffic control, directional/wayfinding, informational, and regulatory signs), and lighting fixtures for streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and walls. For facilities exteriors, the document specifies standards for architectural features, building entrances, wall systems (including flat metal panels, brick veneer, precast concrete, stucco, curtain walls, cast-in-place concrete, and fiber cement siding), doors and windows materials (anodized aluminum, hollow metal, aluminum-clad wood), and roof systems (standing seam metal, membrane single-ply, built-up multi-ply, concrete tile, and clay tile). The document is designed as an editable living document that bases are required to maintain and update, with all military construction projects and Non-Appropriated Funds facilities required to comply with the standards.
