About this file

This is a specification document for Common Work Results for Utilities prepared by the Salt Lake School District for the Highland Park Elementary Plaza Remodel project located at 1738 East 2700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. The specification document details technical requirements for utility piping systems, materials, and installation methods that will be incorporated into the plaza remodel work. A mandatory pre-bid site visit is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at the school's main front entrance; contractors who do not attend will not be permitted to submit bids. The specification section covers piping joining materials, transition fittings, dielectric fittings, sleeves, identification devices, grout, flowable fill, piped utility demolition procedures, piping system installation requirements, equipment installation standards, painting specifications, and grouting procedures. All questions must be submitted in writing through the Bonfire/U3P platform or asked at the pre-bid site visit, with responses posted on the same platform.

The specification document establishes product standards and installation methods that contractors must follow, including specific requirements for materials such as ASME B16.21 gaskets, AWS D10.12/D10.12M welding standards, ASTM D 2564 solvent cements for PVC piping, and ASTM C 1107 Grade B nonshrink grout with 5000-psi compressive strength. The document references multiple approved manufacturers for transition fittings, dielectric unions, flanges, and couplings from vendors including Cascade Waterworks, Dresser Inc., Ford Meter Box Company, Spears Manufacturing Co., NIBCO Inc., and others. Installation requirements mandate that piping be installed at right angles or parallel to building walls with diagonal runs prohibited unless specifically approved, sleeves be installed for pipes passing through concrete and masonry walls, and dielectric fittings be used at all dissimilar metal connections. Bids must be submitted electronically through Bonfire/U3P, and any discrepancies between documents obtained outside the platform will be resolved in favor of documents contained within Bonfire/U3P.
