About this file

This bid specifications document pertains to Salt Lake County's Sheriff's Office request for proposals to provide rotation towing services. The county seeks to expand its vendor pool by adding multiple towing service providers to an existing rotation system. Prospective bidders must be available continuously—24/7, 365 days per year—and equipped to handle large vehicles and specialized towing situations including steep canyon areas and off-road environments in inclement weather conditions. Response time requirements are stringent: 30 minutes for local area calls and 60 minutes for calls in unincorporated and canyon areas. Vendors must use permanently marked company equipment bearing their own name and logo, prohibiting the use of leased or temporary substitute equipment. Once a towing service accepts a call and arrives on scene, the assigned vehicle or item must be removed with no option for refusal.

Successful bidders will be added to the towing rotation and will receive calls based on the rotation system's schedule. All towing charges become the responsibility of vehicle owners and/or their insurance carriers rather than Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. The towing company is responsible for complete scene cleanup following vehicular accidents, including removal of all oil, radiator fluid, absorbent materials, and vehicular debris. Failure to arrive within the specified timeframe will result in call cancellation without charges to the county or vehicle owner, and the next vendor in rotation will be dispatched. Bidders may be required to acquire third-party software as specified by the county. The contract represents an opportunity to join an established rotation system serving Salt Lake County's towing needs.
