About this file
This document is a Limited Lead Inspection Report prepared by Audas Environmental for the FAA ASAR Radar Site in Lynch, Kentucky. The inspection was conducted on September 10, 2025, and involved collecting five paint samples and four soil samples from various locations around the radar tower. Laboratory analysis by SanAir Technologies revealed significant lead content in the paint samples, with concentrations ranging from 3,116 µg/g to 100,400 µg/g at locations including the northwest tower leg, radar stairs handrails, north center platform, and radar mid-section cross beam. Soil samples collected from the northwest, southwest, southeast, and northeast legs of the tower showed lead levels below the reporting limit. The report recommends caution during any hot work (cutting, burning, grinding, welding) on lead-painted surfaces and advises following OSHA Regulation 1926.62 for proper handling of lead-containing materials.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
Audas Environmental, LLC (AE) conducted a limited lead inspection at the FAA ASAR Radar Site, in Lynch, KY. The inspection was conducted on September 10, 2025. The scope of work and the area included in the inspection were given to us by the owner’s representative Ms. Amorette Faires.
2.0 INSPECTION METHODOLOGY
The area was inspected for the presence of Lead (Pb) paint. Paint and soil samples were collected, documented, and photographed. Samples were delivered to SanAir Technologies Laboratory for analysis.
All information contained within this report is based on observations and information gathered at the site.
3.0 LEAD FINDINGS
Paint samples were collected in various locations on and around the tower.
All samples collected were accompanied by a chain of custody and were shipped to an AIHA accredited lab and analyzed via EPA 7000B/3050B protocol.
A total of five (5) paint scrap samples and four (4) soil samples were collected from various locations.
Of these nine (9) samples the five (5) paint samples contained some amount of lead. Content ranged from 3116 µg/g – 100,400 µg/g.
Lead Paint Results Sample No. Location Sample Result
1 Northwest Tower Leg 51090 µg/g
2 Radar stairs - bottom level handrail 100400 µg/g
3 Radar stairs – mid-level handrail 61160 µg/g
4 North center platform South of building 3116 µg/g
5 Radar mid-section cross beam 97660 µg/g
Soil Sample Results Sample No. Location Sample Result
1 Northwest leg <91.1 µg/g
2 Southwest leg <97.5 µg/g
3 Southeast leg <98.9 µg/g
4 Northeast leg <86.3 µg/g

4.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the samples collected, it appears the tower contains lead painted surfaces.
Considering the results from the samples collected from the tower, potential for lead hazard does exist. Any hot work (i.e. cutting, burning, grinding, welding, etc.) on a lead paint surface would be considered a Class III activity by OSHA. Please refer to OSHA Regulation 1926.62 for further direction regarding hot work and other disturbance issues.
Laboratory analytical reports are included in Appendix B.
It should also be noted that lead containing materials other than those identified during the
September 10, 2025 inspection may exist on the subject property. Should suspect materials other than those which were identified during this inspection be uncovered prior to or during the demolition/renovation process, those materials should be assumed lead-containing until sampling and analysis can confirm or deny their lead content.
5.0 EXCLUSIONS
The scope of work for this project included the aforementioned areas sampled. Sample findings represent only the materials directly sampled and are not intended to infer the content of other materials.
