About this file

This document is an Appendix 7 for the Milwaukee Public Library - Martin Luther King Branch Mechanical Systems, involving the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Public Library, and various regulatory bodies including the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, ASHRAE, and NFPA. The appendix outlines detailed mechanical system requirements for a library renovation or construction project, presenting two potential HVAC system options: a conventional natural gas fuel source system and a geothermal ground source heat pump system. The mechanical systems specifications cover comprehensive design conditions, equipment standards, installation requirements, and performance expectations for heating, cooling, ventilation, and related infrastructure.

The document provides extensive technical specifications for mechanical systems, including detailed requirements for boilers, pumps, air handlers, heat pumps, piping, insulation, and control systems. The Library seeks a state-of-the-art Direct Digital Control (DDC) system from Johnson Controls, with web-based access and full system graphics. The project emphasizes energy efficiency, with requirements for sub-metering of electrical, HVAC, natural gas, and water systems. Additional requirements include third-party commissioning, comprehensive operation and maintenance documentation, and specific performance testing for various system components. The specifications allow for flexibility in system design while maintaining strict quality, efficiency, and performance standards.
