About this file
This document is an Appendix 6 Electrical Systems specification for the Milwaukee Public Library's Martin Luther King Branch renovation project, prepared for the City of Milwaukee. The specification outlines comprehensive electrical system requirements, including electrical service, distribution, main power panels, integration systems, demolition, lighting systems, fire systems, voice/data/surveillance systems, and basic material and methods. The document provides detailed technical specifications for electrical infrastructure, covering everything from conduit types and cable specifications to equipment grounding, device installations, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) requirements.
The specification emphasizes compliance with local, state, and federal codes, including Wisconsin Administrative Code, NFPA standards, and various IEEE/ANSI guidelines. Key technical requirements include using LED lamps, BACnet-capable lighting control panels, Johnson Controls-sourced fire alarm systems, CAT 6 cabling, and specific equipment brands like Square D for main disconnects and ABB for variable frequency drives. The project also includes provisions for sub-metering (lighting, HVAC, plug circuits), integration systems (security, access control, intrusion detection, surveillance), and a UPS to maintain critical systems during power interruptions. The specification provides granular details on electrical infrastructure to ensure a comprehensive and compliant electrical system for the library branch.
