About this file

This document is a Performance Bond for Public Works Contracts Over $100,000, specifically for Harris County, Texas, pursuant to Texas Government Code 2253.001. The bond serves as a legal instrument that protects the County of Harris by ensuring that the Principal (contractor) will comply with all provisions of a specific public works contract. The bond provides financial protection and guarantees that if the Principal fails to meet contract obligations, the Surety (bonding company) can step in to complete the work or compensate the county for any losses or damages.

The performance bond covers contracts valued over $100,000 and requires the Principal and Surety to be jointly and severally liable for any financial losses the County of Harris may incur due to the contractor's non-compliance. The Surety is granted the right to assume control of the contract within five days of receiving notice of default, abandonment, or suspension. If the Surety fails to act within this timeframe, they forfeit their rights to control the contract. The bond is executed in accordance with Texas Government Code provisions and is designed to provide a legal mechanism for protecting the county's interests in public works projects.
