About this file

This file contains elevator inspection checklists conducted in January 2023 for multiple elevators at 985 Michigan Avenue in Detroit, MI. The inspections were performed according to ASME A17.2-2014 standards by James Boyd (QEI Number C-5466) from NAESA.

The inspections covered freight elevators F-1, F-2, and F-3 (rated load 15,000 lbs, speed 200 fpm), freight elevator F-4 (rated load 12,000 lbs, speed 50 fpm), and passenger elevators P1-P8 in the parking deck and lobby areas (rated load 3,500 lbs, speed 350 fpm). Each elevator was evaluated on numerous safety and operational criteria including inside car components, machine room equipment, top of car elements, outside hoistway features, and pit conditions. The inspection reports note that fireman's recall was not tested on any elevators due to non-operational smokes. One parking elevator (P1) had additional notes indicating rusty/worn hoist ropes needing replacement and a runby that was too short requiring hoist ropes to be shortened.
