About this file

This document contains the design drawings and specifications for a series of pedestrian bridges to be constructed on the Pony Express Trail in the Eldorado National Forest. The drawings provide detailed plans and dimensions for six trail bridge locations, including Kyburz #2, Clubhouse, Fred's Place, Aspen Creek, and Huckleberry Flat. The specifications outline the required materials and construction methods, including the use of glued laminated timber girders, Douglas Fir-Larch decking, and pressure-treated timber components. Specific design loads, including snow and pedestrian live loads, are provided.

The related federal contract opportunity is for the fabrication, construction, and installation of four of the trail bridges as part of the Pony Express Trail Bridge Repairs project. The contract has an estimated value between $250,000 and $500,000, with a period of performance from August 15, 2024 to November 15, 2025. The solicitation is being issued by the USDA Forest Service, and a pre-bid site visit is scheduled for May 16, 2024. RFIs are due by May 23, 2024. The contract will be awarded under NAICS code 237310, with Davis-Bacon wages applying.
