Questions Received Answers Could you clarify who’s doing the final design? the highlighted lines attached below seem to conflict.

Is a geotechnical engineer required; will the government approve subgrade? There is not a need for a geotechnical engineer and the subgrade will be inspected by the project COR.

Could you provide the site visit date / time? A pre-bid site visit will be held May 22, 2024 :

Contractors will meet Forest Service (FS) personnel at 9:00 AM (local time) at the staging area of the lowest elevation bridge, which would be "Clubhouse". This would be found on the left (west) side of map Caldor Trail Bridge Relief #1. Traveling eastbound on Hwy. 50, and less than a mile east of the town of Kyburz is FS Road # 11N43, where a sharp left turn is required. This road is not signed on Hwy.50 nor is there a left-hand turn lane. It is unknown how long it will take the group to hike in, assess, and hike out, so it would be best if perspective offerors and FS personnel caravan to the other bridge sites together after the first one.

Can you provide the small business qualifications to bid on this project? The size standard for NAICS 237310 Highway, Street, and Bridge Construction is $45.0M.

Is there still a possibility of a site visit? I just saw this on Sam.gov but it looks like it is already past the site visit date.

It is stated that the government would like to see the bridges assembled I the fewest possible pieces. Is is possible to get a crane or a lift of some sort to the bridge locations?

The sites are remote, and it could be challenging to get heavy equipment on site. Please attend the site visit will allow you to make that determination on which equipment is appropriate.

Is there any boding required to submit the bid? I.e. will I have to tie up the bonding that I have in order to only submit the bid?

I understand the conflict. “H” would supersede “A” since R-1739-01 (Plan & Elevation) and R-1739-02 (Abutment & Railing Details) have both been approved and signed by the USFS Regional Engineer, Leonard Job upon recommendation of the USFS Regional Bridge Engineer, Darrell Pereira.
