About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to a federal contract opportunity for the fabrication, construction, and installation of four trail bridges on the Pony Express trail in the Eldorado National Forest. The contract has an estimated value between $250,000 and $500,000, and the period of performance is August 15, 2024 through November 15, 2025.
The scope of work includes removing any logs that currently serve as waterway crossings, fabricating and installing the trail bridges based on Forest Service standard designs, and verifying the correct length of each bridge prior to fabrication. The bridges must meet minimum dimensional requirements and the contractor is responsible for supplying all necessary materials and completing the foundation work at least three weeks prior to the bridge installation. A pre-bid site visit is scheduled for May 16, 2024, and requests for information are due by May 23, 2024. Davis-Bacon wages apply, and performance and payment bonds are required for projects over $35,000.

Questions Received Answers Could you clarify who’s doing the final design? the highlighted lines attached below seem to conflict.
Is a geotechnical engineer required; will the government approve subgrade? There is not a need for a geotechnical engineer and the subgrade will be inspected by the project COR.
Could you provide the site visit date / time? The pre-bid site(s) visit will start at 9 AM at the staging area for the “Clubhouse” bridge on May 16th. Details, maps, and logistics were provided on SAM.gov.
I understand the conflict. “H” would supersede “A” since R-1739-01 (Plan & Elevation) and R-1739-02 (Abutment & Railing Details) have both been approved and signed by the USFS Regional Engineer, Leonard Job upon recommendation of the USFS Regional Bridge Engineer, Darrell Pereira.
