a. Please clarify

c. Spec section 26 05 73 calls for a coordination study.
i. Is this required seeing all panels are existing?
ii. Where does it start from if required?
Coordinate receptacle installation with system furniture manufacturer’s requirements. Power for systems furniture should be provided using power poles.

42. 7/31/2020 Are there any specs on the security system card readers, camera’s, etc.?
See Attachment 15.

Corridor C1-1041 and Vestibule 2W-215 for access and egress to the 1st Floor Building 2C addition completed during Phase 1?
Must meet life safety and otherwise as VA will allow
49. 7/31/2020 Has the VA developed Infection Control Project Risk
Assessments of the following work areas?
a. Building 1, 4th Floor
b. Building 2E, Basement
c. Building 3, 2nd Floor
d. Phase 2, Building 2C, 1st Floor
Will address prior to construction
50. 7/31/2020 In the first phase the VA hospital will be relocated staff, offices, phone and computer equipment from 2W and 2C to the basement and another location.
a. Are there plans and prints of the layout and location needs of these other offices? I do not have detailed prints and key sheets showing riser/IDF closets for voice. We need to know quantities, type and location of communication outlets in these other areas.
b. It would be prudent to know where, how many and if existing analog voice feeds are adequate to provide phones in these new location areas. The
NEC PBX will run a phone on a single pair; i.e.
the 300 pair feeders. The voice patch panel is then patched to the station Jack patch panel.
c. If we are installing voice feeds presumably there will also be fiber needed. What speed, length, quantity and connector type; OM3? OM4?
Single mode?
Systems requirements for the swing spaces are shown on the drawings
51. 7/31/2020 I spoke with the rep from Johnson Controls and confirmed they will be supplying the hardware and nurse call system, but the cabling will be provided by the contractor. Please confirm cable requirements, locations of nurse call stations, master stations, pull stations and lights.
See sheet EY101 for nurse call requirements.
52. 7/31/2020 Referencing electrical drawing EY101 it denotes overhead paging speakers. Presumably these will be a requirement elsewhere in the buildings. Looking at where the speakers were positioned, they appear to be in offices that have phones. A phone can receive a page announcement. Typically, overhead paging speakers are used in a loud environment where a phone would not suffice.
a. It may be a redundant cost to wire for paging speakers and phones in an office. Where is the source of the page broadcast from? Campus wide from the phone system or does each wing have its own mic and source station?
Install speakers as per the plan
53. 7/31/2020 Architectural prints make note of an HDMI cable for
TVs. But it was noticed that at least one of the TVs viewed during the site visit has a data cable connection, presumably to a media player (or it could be a CAT
Balun HDMI extender). Please clarify.
From VA Electronics Dept: Regular analog RG
6 or RG 59 cable
54. 7/31/2020 During our walk-through we were shown an area that will be come a gym and exercise room. I would suspect there would be TVs in here. We only have plans for 2W, 2C and the addition. Please clarify.
Sheets EP102 and EY102 show the gym, BLDG
3, second floor. There is one receptacle and one
TV outlet for TV.
55. 7/31/2020 I didn’t see any existing security cameras to confirm if they are IP or analog cameras. Presumably the blueprint notes for a camera are IP to the nearest IDF closet and will be on the internal LAN and be part of an existing larger camera system. Please clarify.
CCTV cameras are IP based
56. 7/31/2020 Please provide a steam piping detail for the coil in RTU-
42.
See Attachment 16.
57. 8/3/2020 In reviewing the specifications Volume 1, the specs reference requirements for Card Readers see Section 28
13 and Video Surveillance see Section 28 23
The spec jumps from Section 28 05 to 28 31, the Security requirements are missing.
Floor plan EY101 indicate camera’s and Card Readers to be included in this job, as well as Monitoring System.
In order to provide Bidding for the Life Safety, I will need a copy of the Specs with requirements, if there is no
Security in job can you plse. send a revision removing the reference.
▪ Comply with requirements in Section 28 23 00, VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
▪ Comply with requirements in Section 28 13 00
See Attachment 15.
58. 8/4/2020 Is there duct liner required and if so liner type and location?
See response to question 12 above.
59. 8/4/2020 What is the duct pressure class and for which systems is required?
See response to question 13 above.
60. 8/4/2020 What is the all the duct material used for EF-2 Utility
Fan?
See response to question 17 above.
61. 8/4/2020 Does all work require duct cleaning?
See response to question 18 above.
62. 8/4/2020 Does all duct work in the fitness area 3-201 need to be double wall construction?
See response to question 19 above.
63. 8/5/2020 Drawing EP103 displays panel SWBD (new panel 42-A second floor building 42) feeding a new transformer and panel (XMR2W, MR2W), the location for this equipment is not shown on the drawings aside from the detail which just states what building and floor they are
on. The panel schedule clearly states MR2W is to feed
HVAC equipment on the roof of building 2W, this building is five-hundred feet (500’) away from building
42. This scenario seems a bit extreme and in all probability incorrect, also the wire sizes feeding this equipment in incorrect, 30 amp wire feeding a 100 amp panel with a load of approximately 80 amps is not up to code. Please advise.
Drawing EP103 shows the location of new panel
MR2W on roof plan for 2W. Transformer
XMR2W is served from SWBD 2W in B2W, see
Note 5. References to B42 are typos.
42 – Roof-Top Connection Riser is for 2W not
Bldg 42. Equipment on the roof of building 42 is fed from panel 42A in building 42. All reference in the riser to building should read 2W not 42.
The 30 amp feeder is for the 30kVA transformer.
The transformer secondary is a100 amp for the panel feed.
