Prebid RFIs and Responses 2
SOLICITATION NUMBER: 36C78625B0035
PROJECT TITLE: 817CM3025 New Land Expansion at Marion National Cemetery
Question 153 If footings needed to be removed, please provide directions on how to remove footings and support the building while footings are being removed.
Answer 153 Assuming this if referencing the existing maintenance building, RFI#152 had an answer
Answer 152 Footings to remain.
Question 154 On 4802-AE112 Detail 2 what is the roof membrane type? I can see on Detail 6/Ae603 it’s a membrane roof with Tapered insulation but that is all I can find.
There are no specs on membrane roofing.
Currently the only thing I can even find that mentions membrane Roofing in the specs is section 072200 Paragraph 3.5 A – A. Lay insulating units with close joints, in regular courses and with cross joints broken. When laid in more than one layer, break joints of succeeding layers of roof insulation with those in preceding layer.
Bed insulation layers in Type III or IV asphalt firmly pressed into the hot bitumen. Keep bitumen below surface of insulation to receive single ply rubber roofing.
Answer 154 Detail 3/AE602 indicates MEMBRANE ROOF WITH TAPERED INSULATION ON ¾” PLYWOOD SHEATHING. The membrane roofing shall be EPDM. See attached Spec Section 07 53 23 for the membrane roofing requirements.
Question 155 Please confirm the existing material on the higher pitched roof at the maintenance building. One note mentions a metal roof and the other note mentions slate.
Answer 155 Key Note EL6 is noted on the high roof in both 2/AE201 East Elevation and 4/AE201 West Elevation. Key Note EL 6 is “Existing Slate Roof to Remain.” Demolition notes on AD201 also indicate this roofing is to remain. Notes elsewhere in the documents indicate this high roof area is “Existing Roof Assembly.”
Question 156 RFI #45 doesn't seem to have an answer. Please confirm if it was intended to leave blank.
Answer 156 RFI #45 had an answer Answer 45 Cemetery to inspect and approve niche covers for the contractor to install.
Question 157 Please provide a roof pitch for the higher-pitched roof at the maintenance building.
Answer 157 This Existing Roof Assembly to Remain is approximately 10 in 12.
