About this file
This is a Structural Narrative document for a federal construction project (641-24-701) focused on EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades at a Tier 3 Data Center in Mountain Home, Tennessee. The project involves updating the main computer room in Building 77, with the computer room relocating southward within the building, and adding electrical equipment to Building 204.
Building 77 features lightweight concrete slab flooring over 3-inch metal deck supported by steel beams, girders, and columns, with Level 3 containing an additional 3-inch lightweight concrete topping slab. The roof system consists of 1½-inch metal deck on steel framing. Building 204 utilizes two-way concrete slab construction supported on concrete columns. The structural narrative confirms that renovations are primarily non-structural with no major changes to vertical or lateral load paths, and no new construction is required. The existing floor and roof structures have been reviewed and confirmed adequate to support new mechanical, electrical, and telecommunications equipment without structural modifications. Design standards referenced include PG-18-10 Structural Design Manual, the 2024 International Building Code (IBC), and the 2024 International Existing Building Code (IEBC). The contractor is required to verify all existing conditions in the field prior to construction.
