About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) dated 06/24/2025 provides comprehensive answers to 50 contractor questions for the Y1DZ--Renovate Pre-Engineered Metal Building 115 Project at the Kerrville VA Medical Center. Key details include: the project involves renovation of an existing building with limited structural work (replacing five steel open web joists, four pieces of steel floor grating, a steel column, and four steel roof purlins), has a construction magnitude between $250,000 and $500,000, and requires a 240-calendar day performance period.
Notable project specifications include: no traditional commissioning is required, the contractor can use water and electricity free of charge from an adjacent building, no permits are needed, the project does not require a SWPPP plan or additional access roads, and the VA will handle utility tap fees. The contractor's superintendent can simultaneously serve as the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) and Quality Control Manager if they meet specific training requirements. Work hours are standard (7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday), with daily activities to be concluded by 4:30 PM, and no after-hours or weekend work is expected.
