CONTROL SYSTEM

Design Features The proprietary AMSCO 600 control system consists of a real time operating system, microcomputer control boards, and peripheral function circuit boards. An Internal flash memory stores all cycle memory.

The cycles available on the AMSCO 600 Steam Sterilizer facilitate efficient processing. The unit offers 35 user-programmable† cycle options, including prevacuum and gravity cycles designed for steam sterilization of various types of products such as instruments (in trays) and rigid containers, textiles, and pouched items. The AMSCO 600 Steam Sterilizer also offers standard test cycles (Warm-up, Bowie-Dick/air removal and leak test). All processing cycles offer user-programmable options, allowing operators to customize sterilize times above AAMI recommended minimums, temperatures within cleared 270-275°F (132-135°C) range and dry times from 0-120 minutes to meet various instrument manufacturer IFUs‡. AMSCO 600 Medium Steam Sterilizers come standard with a 2-stage electric vacuum pump that provides a fast, deep vacuum for more efficient drying.

† This consists of six factory-set cycles, three test cycles and

26 additional cycles that a Customer can add to meet specific processing requirements.

‡ Cycle parameters cannot be adjusted to less than preset, validated settings.

NOTE: An under-temperature or over-temperature condition causes the controller to abort the cycle.

Operator interface control panel, consisting of a touch screen display and thermal printer, is located on the operating end of the sterilizer.

• Touch-sensitive screen is a 8.4" (213.4 mm) 8-bit color graphics display located at an ergonomic height, and easily accessible to the operator on the right side of the sterilizer.

The control touch screen, from which all sterilizer functions are controlled, features a wide viewing angle and high-visibility backlighting.

The display indicates any abnormal conditions that may exist, either in or out of cycle. Displayed messages are complete phrases with no codes to be cross-referenced.

• Thermal printer – High Resolution (8 dots/mm) thermal printer is fast and quiet, printing 25 lines/minute on industrial grade thermal paper. Printout has a guaranteed shelf-life of 25 years and is resistant to exposure from steam, alcohol, UV and visible light, oil, heat and water. On double-door sterilizers, the printer is located on the sterile (unload) side.

• Cycle Storage / Cycle Reprint – Sterilizer stores up to the last 300 cycles on internal memory and alerts the operator when 270 cycles are saved. These internally stored cycles can be retrieved, viewed, printed or copied to a USB stick.

The sterilizer includes a USB port below the E-Stop on both the OE and NOE panels. When a port is occupied with a USB stick, cycle log data can be saved to the stick.

• Sterile (Unload Side) control panel, located on double-door sterilizers only, includes a full-size touch-sensitive screen identical to the operating end screen.

Preprogrammed cycles can be started from the sterile side control panel. The display concurrently shows the same information as the sterilizer loading end screen display.

Cycle configuration is performed by accessing the change values menu through the operating end touch screen. The change values menu can be used to adjust cycle values and the following operating parameters:

• Time display and printout units – AM/PM or 24-hour.

• Access code – a four-digit access code is required to change cycle values.

• Sound options – touch screen control includes buttons for selecting a volume level of Low, Medium, or High for:

> Touch Tone > End of Cycle Sound > Alarm Sound

Each of the three signals can be independently adjusted, for example, the touch tone can be set to Low, End of Cycle to Medium, and Alarm Sound to High.

A Cycle End Duration button allows the user to set a value within the range of 0 to 90 seconds, determining how long the End of Cycle Sound will continue to signal.

• Temperature display and printout can be set to Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C) and displayed/printed to nearest 1° increment.

• Pressure/vacuum display and printout units can be set to PSIA, PSIG, mbar, or kPa.

HEALTHCARE CYCLES

Description AMSCO 600 Series Steam Sterilizers are provided with prevacuum and gravity cycles designed for steam sterilization of various types of products such as instruments (in trays) and rigid containers, textiles, and products in pouches.

Pre-Set Cycles AMSCO 600 is pre-configured with the following cycles:

Configurable Cycles Configurable operating parameters enable the Customer to develop and optimize cycles for a variety of applications. All cycles consist of three separate phases as follows:

• Conditioning phase: this phase removes air from the chamber prior to the exposure phase. Prevacuum and Gravity-displacement Air Removal Cycles are available.

After air removal, the chamber heats up to reach the defined exposure temperature.

• Exposure phase: The standard process operates with time based exposure. The timer runs only when the chamber reaches and maintains the pre-selected exposure temperature.

• Drying phase: The drying phase uses vacuum to evaporate moisture from the chamber and load.

Test Cycles AMSCO 600 sterilizers are pre-programmed with the following three test cycles.

• Warm-Up Cycle is run to heat the sterilizer chamber and jacket to set temperature. The operator typically runs a warm up cycle prior to running a Bowie-Dick/Air Removal Test Cycle or Leak Test.
