About this file

This document is an Amendment (Amendment 2) to a federal construction contract for renovating the Community Living Center (CLC) in Building 134, Wing 2C at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center in North Chicago, Illinois. The amendment updates and reissues several technical specification sections, including Cast-in-Place Concrete (Section 03 30 53), Maintenance of Masonry (Section 04 01 00), and Masonry Mortaring (Section 04 05 13), all dated 01/28/2025.

The renovation project involves approximately 12,590 square feet of space, with work spanning multiple construction disciplines including selective demolition, metal studs, gypsum wall board, painting, ceilings, flooring, electrical systems, fire protection modifications, and telecommunications cabling. Key project requirements include maintaining negative air pressure during construction, implementing infection control measures, providing dust containment, and ensuring compatibility with existing hospital systems. The project includes several deduct alternate options that allow the VA to modify the scope, such as deleting specific room renovations or equipment installations. Sole source procurement requirements are specified for critical systems like fire alarms, building automation, and patient lift systems.
