RFI-001 RFI
is it safe to assume that any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work required for the casework or walk-in freezer deducts is to remain in Base Bid Item 0001 and not to be included with the deduct costs? Will ground floor ceiling work for new plumbing work be performed off hours? Will major demolition on first floor be permitted during regular hours or off hours?
Yes, this is to remain base bid.
Ground floor work above ceiling for floor above must be coordinated with COR onsite based on the conditions of the space to be entered.
Regular demolition work will be permitted during regular hours. All elements of demolition must be coordinated onsite with COR prior to commencing and some major demolition items may be directed to be done in off hours per the COR.
Major demolition off hours, or as herein noted:
1. Saw cutting of roof for duct and pipe penetrations for new air-handling unit above Outpatient Radiology
2. Partition demolition along the corridor for rooms across from Ophthalmology, including the rooms that back up to these. Coordinate with Ophthalmology procedure times.

RFI-021 Is x-raying or scanning of the concrete floors required before we do any core drilling?
In the area of the waffle slab of the existing structure all penetration of the existing slab must be coordinated with by location. No drilling through the ribs are allowed but no need to x-ray if drilling through the flat slab. Outside of this structural system x-ray may be required.
RFI-022 In the Specs 22 63 00 – 11, 2.8 Alarms, In “A.” it tells us to “Provide all low voltage control wiring, including wiring from alarm relay interface control cabinet to BAS” Where is the location of the BAS? And who makes final connections to the BAS?
The “BAS” is located on the ground level in the maintenance office.
RFI-023 Please provide specific location and size of the contractor laydown area. Are any areas above or below the work area, operational with patients and/or staff 24 hr?
Exterior laydown area available to be fenced by contractor. Limited by building inset to Lab Entrance on west, which is to remain open an unobstructed, Jefferson Ave. street entrance on east which is to remain unobstructed, and mid-point of drive which is to allow a single lane for one-way traffic. Dumpster placement and access within this laydown space. Landscaping to be restored at completion.
Areas above and below project limits are mostly non-clinical administrative or support type space as observed during the 2 site visits.
RFI-024 The new AHU is located on a roof top as shown on sheet AS104. The area outside to access this roof is in a courtyard, not easily accessible, and blocked by large trees. It will be difficult to lift the AHU in place by crane between the trees without damaging the trees.
Can the trees be trimmed to allow access for the crane?
Obstruction of trees is dependent upon placement of crane. If trees come into play, significant trimming is likely which will compromise trees. Provide tree removal instead and replace with suitable species. Specify height/caliper of replacement.
RFI-025 The new location of the AHU appears to be over an existing roof drain. What is to be done with the existing roof drain?
See modification in this area clarified on Sheet AS104.

Please provide approximate quantities so all bidders are bidding apples to apples.
See attached report for further information.
RFI-031 Sheet HA101 general note G says to assume lead paint is within the construction area on painted surfaces to be removed and demo should be conducted accordingly. Is this note instructing the Contractor to assume all painted surfaces to be removed are lead paint and to provide lead abatement and containment procedures during all demolition operations? This is a very expensive assumption. If not, please provide a report detailing the extent of the lead paint so a more accurate proposal may be provided.
information
RFI-032 Sheet HA101 general note G says to assume lead paint is within the construction area on painted surfaces to remain and existing surfaces should be stabilized, not abated. Is this note instructing the Contractor to assume all painted surfaces to remain are lead paint and to provide lead stabilization procedures on all painted surfaces to remain? This is a very expensive assumption. If not, please provide a report detailing the extent of the lead paint so a more accurate proposal may be provided.
