This project will be a complete renovation of the existing Building 10 on the VA Medical Center Campus in Tuskegee, Alabama. Building 10 is a two-story brick building built in 1923. The building is approximately 12,800 GSF and includes an attic and a crawl space. The building is currently vacant and in poor condition.
This project is to be a complete renovation of the building and will include abatement of all hazardous materials and demolition of all existing utilities. Demolition of the existing building includes the removal of all finishes, fixtures, interior walls, floors, lighting, electrical distribution, HVAC equipment, fire/alarm systems, IT, and plumbing systems. The renovation will also include the removal and replacement of the building's structure, including the floor and roof slabs, and the roof assembly. The exterior front entrance porch and stairs will be removed and replaced with a porch that reflects the original building design. Canopies will be added over the entry doors at the east and west wings, to reflect the original building design. The project will also address deficiencies as listed in the most recent VISN 7 Facilities Condition Assessments (FCA) which include the addition of an elevator and new stairwells, to meet current accessibility and exiting requirements. The project also includes repainting the concrete sills and banding on the exterior facade, and repointing areas of the brick veneer to address mortar deterioration and organic growth. New Copper Gutters and downspouts will be replaced and tied into new storm water lines. Following renovation, the building will be occupied for Whole Health and Telehealth programs for Veterans. The programs are strictly outpatient programs for Veterans. The contractor is responsible for the correct disposal of all materials associated with this project. Details on documenting waste streams as well as a list of recycling/disposal facilities will be provided to the contractor at the start of work. If any questions or concerns arise, the contractor shall coordinate with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for directions. All disruptions to the normal functions of the Tuskegee Camps (road closures, utility connections, etc.) shall be brought to the attention of the COR as soon as possible.
