About this file
This document is a specification for metal roofing and siding panels to be installed on patient buildings at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical center. The specification requires standing-seam metal roof panels with a two-coat fluoropolymer finish to be installed over existing asphalt roofing, as well as flush-profile metal wall panels. The roof and wall panels must meet specified performance requirements for energy efficiency, structural load resistance, air and water infiltration resistance, and thermal movement. The specification also includes requirements for accessories like gutters, downspouts, pipe flashings, and snow guards to be installed as part of the project. Bids for the work are to be submitted under solicitation number 36C24523B0002 to replace roofs on patient buildings at a VA medical center in Veterans Integrated Service Network 5.
The specification provides detailed requirements for the products, submittals, quality control, warranties, and installation of the metal roofing and siding system. Product standards, testing procedures, and certification programs are referenced. Sustainable design criteria and recycled material content are also specified. The work must be performed by an experienced installer approved by the manufacturer, and is subject to inspections by the manufacturer's representative to ensure proper installation and maintenance over the warranty period.
