1- No mechanicals shown for temporary kitchen trailer. Will any plumbing / HVAC be required? Please clarify in detail requirements. Freshwater will be required from water hose or pipe from the VAMC Syracuse Hospital building or grounds. Gray water drain can be connected to an existing Sewer Trench near the main loading dock area. The VA located and noted the nearest potable water and sanitary sewer connection locations and illustrated in this amendment plans revisions. The VA added notes to the revised plans on typical mobile kitchen trailer requirements.

2- G102R1; please confirm:

a. Phase 1 – Kitchen will be fully operational. No temporary kitchen trailer? Correct.

b. Phase 2 – Indicates temporary kitchen to be used. Correct, temporary mobile kitchen trailer is to be used by the kitchen staff starting in Phase 2 for cooking only; trayline will still be operational for tray assembly within the main kitchen area. Backup electrical will be necessary to power all equipment needed in tray assembly area (induction chargers, 3 reach-in refrigerators, undercounter freezer, steam table, toaster, mobile heated cabinet, coffee machine, and plate warmer) well as dish room area (dish machine and pulper)

c. Phase 3 – Does not indicate on this drawing temporary kitchen to be used but does on other drawings. Please confirm Phase 3 temporary kitchen to be used and contractor has full access to kitchen area. During Phase 3, kitchen staff will still use the mobile kitchen trailer for cooking only. Temporary tray assembly area will be in the former retherm room, B261 (electrical will be necessary to power all equipment needed in tray assembly area (induction chargers, 3 reach-in refrigerators, undercounter freezer, steam table, toaster, mobile heated cabinet, coffee machine, and plate warmer). The dish room area will still be operational during this phase. The plans were revised to show sharing the freight elevators in phase 3 also, i.e. Contractor must utilize one freight elevator and Kitchen Staff will utilize one freight elevator in phase 3.

d. Phases 4 & 5 – No temporary kitchen? Correct, no temporary kitchen trailer for cooking in Phase 4 and Phase 5, i.e. Contractor must utilize one freight elevator and Kitchen Staff will utilize one freight elevator in Phase 4 & Phase 5. During Phase 4, kitchen staff will utilize mobile dishwashing trailer for dish room duties; cooking and tray assembly duties will return to the main kitchen area.

3- Phase 1 has work within the kitchen area. There is significant work including demolition. If this work is to be completed during normal business hours, next to an operating kitchen, what are the Infection Control Requirements? Will there be noise restrictions? Please refer to Sheet G101G, G102R1 on the infection control requirements. There will be no noise restrictions imposed on the contractor from the Kitchen Staff. Noise restriction will not be imposed on the contractor by the 3rd floor or the 1st floor, as those areas are mainly roof and equipment, shafts on the 3rd floor and we will notify the pharmacy on the first floor that there will be noise due to minor demo and construction the 2nd floor.
