About this file

Eugene Airport EUG Canopy Repair and Improvements

This is a 100% design specification document for the Eugene Airport (City of Eugene) canopy repair and improvement project prepared by RS&H Oregon. The project encompasses repair and renovation of main canopies and gutters above the vertical circulation core, with work divided into four designated areas. Area A involves replacement of glulam beams and existing built-up roof with TPO membrane, repair and refurbishment of wood decking, and sand-and-stain finishing on exposed wood with lighting replacement (work by others). Area B requires replacement of one glulam beam, replacement of all metal trim on and between glulam beams, repair of tongue-and-groove canopy planks, and sand-and-stain finishing. Area C involves replacement of all metal trim on and between glulam beams, repair of T&G canopy planks, and sand-and-stain work. Area D requires removal and repair of the existing gutter above escalators. The contract is structured as a single prime contract based on stipulated price. Unit prices are specified for a complete roof assembly at gutter repair Area D (400 SF measured in square feet) and wood I-joist replacement at gutter repair Area D (four 40-foot long I-joists). Two alternates are included: Alternate No. 1 addresses finishing of existing metal trim and infill panels through in-place painting or removal and shop refinishing, and Alternate No. 2 (by others) provides for partial replacement and repair of glulam beams as opposed to full replacement. The owner intends to continue occupying adjacent building portions during construction and occupy the project upon substantial completion.

The specification requires compliance with Oregon Structural Specialty Code and applicable building standards including AITC standards for glulam beams, ASTM specifications for roofing and insulation materials, and comprehensive electrical codes and standards. All work must be coordinated with owner occupancy requirements, and the contractor must maintain all emergency building exits and comply with the airport's security and badging requirements. Submittals include shop drawings with AITC certificates for glulam beams, product data, quality assurance documentation, and operation and maintenance manuals at project closeout. The design professionals of record include architect Mark IP (License #ARI-14151), structural engineer Brent Crawford (License #84424PE), and electrical engineer Cody Cowdin (License #99536PE). Security procedures require coordination with the owner's existing security system, personnel identification badging, and protection of work from theft and vandalism. All materials, products, and equipment must be UL-labeled where applicable, and electrical work must comply with the National Electrical Code and local permitting requirements. Final inspection procedures include a substantial completion inspection with correction punch lists, and the contractor bears responsibility for all demolition debris removal and site cleanup upon completion.
