About this file

This file contains Questions and Answers related to a janitorial services procurement for DHS Customs and Border Protection facilities in Sarnia, Ontario. Five questions were submitted covering past performance requirements, subcontracting, and facility conditions.

Key clarifications include: past performance in janitorial services is not required but should be recent and relevant if submitted; prime contractors should submit their own information rather than subcontractors'; Canadian subcontractors are permitted; the current contract number is 70B03C20P00000137; and regarding facility conditions, the trailers use "zapper" toilets that incinerate waste due to lack of running water, with portable toilets also available outside. The procurement requires weekly cleaning services for approximately 250 square foot trailers, with contractors required to provide their own cleaning supplies and water.

RFI Responses

1. 1- Regarding the past performance form, do we need to have janitorial services as Past Performance to bid on this contract? We did multiple forestry services and vehicle deliveries. We also sent multiple janitorial services proposals in the past, and intend to keep doing so.

· Answer: No – but if you do fill it out, past performances must be recent and relevant. If you don’t have any recent and relevant past performances, then leave it blank when submitting your quote.

2. If it's possible for us to bid: do we have to put the contractor's name or the subcontractor doing the janitorial work's name on the past performance form? Or both?

· Answer: the prime contractors information should be submitted since the prime will be the one receiving a contract with the Government.

3. Is it possible to have a Canadian company as a subcontractor to do the janitorial work?

· Answer: Yes

4. Could you please provide the current / previous contract number?

· Answer: 70B03C20P00000137

5. I sent my contractor out to look at the trailers and he was told that the trailers are not yet completed. Is there an expected completion timeframe for the trailers? Are the bathrooms being used without running water? Are there portable toilets available?

· Answer: “zapper” toilets are currently being used since there is no running water. It incinerates waste. There are also outside porta potties. Other than the small area with the “zapper toilets”, the trailers are complete.
