About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for a U.S. Embassy cleaning services contract in Italy, covering operations in Rome, Florence, and Milan. Key details include: the current contractor is Pellegrini SpA with a five-year contract valued at $4,421,098, and the new contract involves a reduction in services. The contract requires the new contractor to provide cleaning services for approximately 90 apartments annually (70 in Rome, 20 in Milan), maintain offices in all three cities, supply dispensers for soap/paper towels/toilet paper, and have English-speaking supervisors available. Specific requirements include providing local Italian business documentation, having dedicated van parking, and potentially absorbing 65% of the existing workforce under Italian labor laws.
Contractors must meet several administrative requirements, such as submitting separate technical and pricing volumes, providing documentation for five clients in Rome and Milan and two in Florence, and obtaining necessary Italian business permits. The government will facilitate communication between outgoing and incoming contractors but will not directly manage the workforce transition. The contract involves cleaning services for U.S. diplomatic facilities, with approximately 40 consulate personnel in Milan and 15 in Florence, and requires local operational capabilities including emergency support and timely communication.
