About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to solicitation number 191BWC21R0002 from the International Boundary and Water Commission for the rehabilitation of sewer pipelines. Specifically, the last question asked to clarify whether SDR 26 piping could be used for discharge piping given that the solicitation required piping rated for 160 psi pressure, which corresponds to SDR 13.5 piping. The answer confirmed that SDR 26 piping may be used for discharge piping, and referenced a revision to specification section 46.03.00 allowing a minimum SDR of 26 for the high density polyethylene discharge piping.

TRUNKLINE & IOI REHABILITATION PHASES 1-3
Last Question and Answer Received Against 191BWC21R0002 – Trunkline & IOI Rehabilitation
Phases 1-3
Q55: In specification section 46.03.00 Sewer Flow Control, Page 6, Item H-2, states the discharge piping shall be butt-fused high density polyethylene (HDPE) (minimum thickness SDR 26, 160 psi). However, the required SDR 26 pipe does not correspond to the required pressure rating of
160 psi. Please confirm if SDR 26 pipe may be used for discharge piping on this project, or if discharge piping rated for 160 psi must be used which corresponds to SDR 13.5 piping. Please clarify.
A55: SDR 26 may be used for discharge piping. See revision to Specification Section 46.03.00 3.2 H.2 requiring the HDPE discharge piping to have a minimum SDR of 26.
