About this file
This solicitation package includes engineering drawings and specifications for the rehabilitation of approximately 19,730 linear feet of existing sewer pipeline known as the Trunkline and International Outfall Interceptor in Nogales, Arizona. Key details include rehabilitation of the pipelines through concrete encasement of reinforced concrete pipe sections, slope repairs around Manholes 86, 87, and 93, and replacement of approximately 34 feet of reinforced concrete pipe encasement. The drawings provide plans, profiles, sections and construction details for concrete encasement and slope stabilization work. The solicitation also includes an option to rehabilitate an additional 8,634 linear feet of pipeline. The solicitation is issued by the United States Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission for a negotiated procurement to solicit proposals due by June 30, 2022.

RCP ENCASEMENT DETAIL
Typical Section for 30" RCP
NOTES:
1. Detail 3 based upon Pipe Encasement Detail on as built drawing 22143 (Sht 42), Nogales International Sanitation Project, Outfall Pipeline, Plan & Profile STA.
451+00 to STA. 463+00, dated 5/1/1971.
2. New and existing encasement is estimated. URS stationing and distances between manholes varies from as built drawing 22137 (Sht 36), Nogales International
Sanitation Project, Outfall Pipeline, Plan & Profile STA. 379+00 to STA. 391+00, dated 5/1/1971.
3. Confirm with COR and Construction Inspector location of new encasement prior to beginning work.
4. See Specification Section 33.05.39.73 for additional RCP encasement requirements.
5. Existing ground contours and profile stationing is based upon URS 2013 survey and matches that shown on I-CU-2037. Current site conditions differ.
6. Drill and epoxy to a minimum depth of 9 inches, 6 - #6 90° hooks spaced approximately evenly around existing RCP encasement. Thoroughly clean and roughen existing encasement prior to placing new concrete encasement directly adjacent.
7. Manholes and RCP are estimated representations based up Nogales International Sanitation Project, Outfall Pipeline 5/1/1971 as built drawings.
8. Riprap (18 inch nominal) to be placed along bank upstream and downstream of MH 86 to a depth of at least 2 ft. Confirm with COR and Construction Inspector location and extent of new riprap prior to beginning work. Limits of riprap surrounding MH 86 will depend on existing conditions. Remove all debris prior to placement. Existing riprap and roots of established trees to be left in place. See Specification Section 31.37.00 for additional riprap requirements.
9. See URS Drawing I-CU-2037 for other work in this area.

NOTES:
1. Contractor to survey site and verify size/location of existing storm drain (CMP) prior to creating a work plan.
2. Contractor to choose how to repair slope, but shall submit a full work plan per Specification Section 31.25.00 to the COR for compliance confirmation.
3. Work around MH 93 shall restore site to approximately match 2013 contours while ensuring full cover for MH 93. Stormwater flows have caused erosion on the slope slightly downstream of MH 93.
4. Existing ground is based upon URS 2013 survey and matches that shown on I-CU-2040. Current site conditions differ.
5. See USIBWC Drawings 26463 and 26464 for two options of slope repair.
6. See URS Drawing I-CU-2040 for other work in this area.

NOTES:
1. Contractor to choose how to repair slope, but shall submit a full work plan per Specification Section 31.25.00 to the COR for compliance confirmation. This drawing and USIBWC Drawing 26464 offer two options for slope repair.
2. The top and sides of the slope repair shall be placed to match existing contours.
3. Confirm with COR and Construction Inspector location of all construction prior to beginning actual sitework.
4. Remove all trash, debris, loose material, and small brush/vegetation prior to beginning work. Small trees may be removed to aid in construction.
5. Gabions shall be sized as 3 ft x 3 ft with the length determined by the Contractor. Gabions are usually available in lengths of
6, 9, and 12 ft.
6. The first and last gabion shall be embedded at least 5 ft into the slope to prevent water from eroding behind the gabions.
Confirm location with COR and Construction Inspector.
7. CMPs and any end sections shall be joined together using CMP metal bands.
8. A flared end section is not required at the end of the new CMP, but the Contractor may choose to use one as part of their slope protection method.
9. The Contractor may use a minimum 5 inch thick reinforced shotcrete/concrete for slope protection between the end of the new CMP and the gabions or other compliance confirmed method of slope protection.
10. Shotcrete/concrete reinforcement is only included to keep concrete together in one unit. Therefore, any of the following reinforcement is acceptable for use:
10.1. W2.9 x W2.9
10.2. W4.0 x W4.0
10.3. W5.0 x W5.5
