About this file

This is Addendum 1 for Bid #25006336 issued by the City of Midland for tree management services at the local airport. The addendum addresses several key questions raised by potential bidders regarding project scope and requirements, including the airport's preferred timeline for project commencement. Prospective bidders were advised that tree pruning would be best conducted in October or November to minimize tree damage, with the airport particularly interested in removing dead trees as soon as possible. The project includes tree removal, trimming, and assessment of various airport locations, including areas near Midland College, TXDOT right-of-ways, and the old CAF Museum.

The addendum provides clarification on specific project details, such as the airport's preference to remove a large pine tree near Midland College that has grown into power lines and their request for the successful bidder to inspect and provide a cost estimate for repairing the irrigation system. The airport does not currently have an accurate map of the irrigation system. Additionally, the airport wants cost estimates for optional components like trimming trees along TXDOT right-of-ways and wants unsavable or heavily diseased trees to be removed. Bidders are required to return this addendum with their bid by the closing date, with all other terms and conditions remaining unchanged.

ADDENDUM 1

BID # 25006336

TO ALL BIDDERS ON THE SUBJECT BID:

ADDENDUM # 1

DATE: August 15, 2025

The following questions were raised by one or more of the proposers. The answers are provided as a matter of clarification for all proposers as follows:

1. What is the airport's timeline for the contractor to begin the project?

The airport would prefer the contractor to begin as soon as possible. Prospective bidders noted in the meeting that it would be best to conduct tree pruning in October or November to minimize potential damage to the trees. The airport is willing to work with the successful bidder on the schedule, but would prefer to, at a minimum, start the removal of dead trees as soon as possible.

2. 3.2.3. The large pine tree by Midland College has grown into the power lines.

Does the airport want to have the tree trimmed up to the power lines, or have the tree removed?

At this time, the airport would prefer to have the tree removed.

3 3.2.21. Does the airport want the successful bidder to repair the irrigation system as part of the irrigation assessment? Secondly, does the airport have a map showing the location of irrigation lines and equipment?

The airport would ask the successful bidder to inspect the irrigation system and provide a cost estimate for repair based on their findings. At this time, the airport does not have a map of the irrigation system that we believe is accurate.

4 Does the airport want the trees along any TXDOT right-of-way trimmed as well?

The airport would ask for a cost estimate for these right-of-ways to be included as an optional component of the bid.

5 Does the airport want trees that appear to be unsavable or heavily diseased to be trimmed or removed?

The airport would ask that trees that appear unsavable be removed.

6 Does the airport want trees at the old CAF Museum to be trimmed or removed?

This item is covered under 3.2.20 of the Scope of Service & Requirements portion of the specification.
