About this file
This document is a Section 01 57 40 specification for Pesticides related to the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project's San Juan Lateral – Reach 1 Pipeline Improvements project. The specification provides comprehensive guidelines for pesticide use, including definitions of pesticides (encompassing herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and other chemical treatments), strict requirements for pesticide selection, and application protocols. Key requirements include obtaining a commercial applicator's license for New Mexico, submitting a detailed Pesticide Use Plan, providing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for each chemical, and ensuring all pesticides are appropriate for site-specific conditions, compliant with BLM guidelines, and not prohibited by state, Navajo Nation, or local agencies. Contractors must keep detailed records of pesticide purchases, usage, and disposal, and are responsible for any damages resulting from pesticide application.
