Bureau of Reclamation Solicitation No. 140R3023R0003 Amendment No. 00001
Questions and Responses
Hoover Dam Visitor Center Exhibit Level & Renovated Office Space
1. Question - Per E3.01 Keyed Note #4 states layout is per AV consultant design. It is stated to coordinate with AV and
Technology plan. I do not see these reflected as part of the bid package.
Response –See Attachment No. 9 - Hoover Dam Visitor Center Exhibit Design Drawings incorporated into this amendment. See AV sheets.
2. Question - Fixture schedule E6.02 states fixtures L01 Through L06 are to be specified by others. It is stated to refer to lighting designer drawings, but there do not appear to be lighting designer drawings as part of the bid package.
Response – See Attachment No. 9 - Hoover Dam Visitor Center Exhibit Design Drawings incorporated into this amendment. See Lighting sheets. Sheets will be revised to update lighting schedule and incorporated in amendment No. 0002
3. Question - In the exhibit area there appears to be an underfloor duct system installed. Currently all of the reflected Existing J-boxes are covered by floor tile. In review of floor finish drawings A2.41 this area is stated to refer to exhibit drawings. These drawings do not appear to have been provided as part of the bid package. Concern is that currently all of the J-boxes are covered by the current floor covering and that these J boxes should be accessible. These boxes are typical to 35+/- locations and should be accessible at any and all time and should not be covered by finishes as they currently are.
Response – See Attachment No. 9 - Hoover Dam Visitor Center Exhibit Design Drawings incorporated into this amendment. See Exhibit Design Drawings for exhibit area floor finishes. Underfloor duct junction boxes need accessible covers, per sheet E3.01 General Note C. Covers can be painted to match flooring color in the Exhibit areas.
Locations are shown in plan on sheet E3.01.
4. Question - Current space has speakers throughout and the documents do not indicate any. Please advise how these are to be addressed.
Response – Unless otherwise noted, existing speakers are to be removed. See Sheet E1.03, General Note C. New sheet will be incorporated in Amendment No. 0002 to identify power to the new AV speakers.
5. Question – Per Specification Section 09 66 23, Request to provide acceptable substitution for Biopolymer terrazzo flooring. Is resinous matrix terrazzo acceptable?
Response – Data on the proposed substitution must be submitted for review and consideration. The product must be red-list free, as well as match the finish and maintenance requirements of the biopolymer terrazzo.
6. Question - Specification indicates Copper pipe jointing requirements 1.10E Qualify soldering processed ASTM B 828 is soldering the joints the only way for connecting copper pipe. NFPA 13 6.5.5 allows press fit copper joints. A/E please advise if press fit copper joints are acceptable.
Response – Press fit copper joints are acceptable provided they are not buried in the ground.
7. Question - We have received feedback from several major subcontractors expressing concerns associated with their ability to submit bid proposals by the 12/9 due date. As such, we believe it would be in the best interest of the Bureau of Reclamation to postpone the project bid date until Friday, December 16, 2022, at 2pm PST. This extra time would simply allow A/E to respond to RFI’s and more subcontractors to produce bid proposals for your project, resulting in a more competitively bid project overall. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Response – RFP due date has been extended from 12/9/2022 to Thursday, 12/16/22 at 3:00 pm MST.
