About this file
This document is a Compaction Test Schedule for the Gila Box Campsite Improvements project under Solicitation Number 140L0624R0032 issued by the Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management.
The Compaction Test Schedule outlines the requirements for subgrade compaction testing, including test frequency, depth of lifts, and acceptable compaction methods. Specifically, it requires compaction testing per ASTM D698 for trench backfill and subgrade under paths, trails, or sidewalks, with testing frequency based on linear footage of work. No testing is required for filling depressions from clearing, where up to 8-inch lifts using hand-operated tampers are allowed. The document references relevant specification sections covering quality control, submittals, site clearing, and earthwork. The overall purpose is to ensure proper subgrade preparation and compaction for the campsite improvements at the Gila Box Recreational Natural Conservation Area.

NOTES
Refer to Specification Sections: 014000, Quality Control/Quality Assurance; 013300, Sub-mittal Procedures; 311000, Site Clearing; 312000, Earth Moving.
Compaction testing per ASTM D698.
Definition of Lift: up to 8 inches loose depth for material compacted by heavy compac-tion equipment, or up to 4 inches loose depth for material compacted by hand-operated tampers.
FREQUENCY
For trench backfill: Test compaction and moisture content each lift in-place once per day’s production OR for every 500 linear feet of pipe run or fraction thereof, whichever is least.
For subgrade under paths, trails or sidewalks: Test compaction and moisture content each lift in-place once per day’s production OR for every 200 linear feet of route or frac-tion thereof, whichever is least.
To fill depressions from clearing: No testing required. Compaction of up to 8 inch lifts using hand-operated tampers is allowed. Maintain optimal moisture content for compaction and ensure level grades.
