About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document for Solicitation 140FGA26R0006, Amendment 0008, addressing clarifications on technical specifications and design requirements.

The document resolves five key technical issues: (1) Bird strike protection requirements have been clarified—bird strike film is not required on wood window units, only on storefront glazing systems, with full-height screens required for bird strike avoidance on wood windows; window types are updated per a revised schedule coordinating with exterior elevations; (2) The 8" waterline material specification is referenced in Specification Section 33 10 00; (3) A 2-way fire-fighter's phone system previously specified in Section 28 46 21.11, 2.9 has been removed and is no longer required; (4) An Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) is required in accordance with Specification Section 28 46 21.11, 2.10; and (5) Exterior siding clarification confirms that all areas depicted with ashlar hatch patterns shall use thin stone veneer, while all areas with shingle patterns shall use fiber cement siding per Specification Section 074646, which only lists shingle pattern options.

Solicitation: 140FGA26R0006 Amendment 0008

Questions and Answers

32. In the window spec, the glazing is calling out for “Bird Strike Resistance Coating”. The Window Types on pg. A-604 appear to have either internal or applied grids on the glass. Are these windows to have both the grids and the Bird Strike coating or is it just the coating? Having both seems to be contradictory.

Response

Specification Section 08 52 00, 2.3.D is removed, bird strike film is not required on the wood window units; only storefront glazing systems. Please note that while the majority of the wood windows are single hung, full height screens are required for bird strike avoidance. Additionally, window types are clarified per the attached revised schedule to coordinate with the exterior elevations.

33. Could you please confirm the required material specification for the 8” waterline, including the applicable specification section and pipe type (e.g., C900 PVC, HDPE, DIP, etc.)?

Response

Refer to Specification Section 33 10 00

34. Does the AHJ really want a 2-way fire-fighter’s phone system wired in the system? This is an old way of doing things.

Response

Specification Section 28 46 21.11, 2.9 is removed in its entirety, a 2-way telephone communication system is not required.

35. Also along with that, they are asking for an emergency responder radio coverage system. This is kind of what has taken the place of the old hard-wired fire-phone system I just mentioned above.

Response

Yes, provide ERRCS in accordance with Specification Section 28 46 21.11, 2.10

36. On Sheet A-201 - 1 North Elevation, the call out "Fiber Cement Ashlar Siding" appears to be pointing at a hatch pattern that is called out as "Thin Stone Veneer" in A-201 - 2 South Elevation.

Also on A-202 - the Hatch Pattern that resembles shingle siding is labeled both as "Fiber Cement Ashlar

Siding" & "Fiber Cement Shingle Siding"

Spec Section #074646 - Fiber Cement Siding - only lists a shingle pattern.

Is the intent for all of the areas depicted with the Ashlar Pattern to be natural limestone, and all the areas depicted with the shingle pattern to be the fiber cement product?

Response

Correct – all areas depicted as an ashlar pattern are thin stone veneer and shingle patterns are fiber cement siding.
