About this file

This document is a generic installation plan for rooftop photovoltaic (PV) solar array systems designed for residential and commercial applications in Florida. The plan consists of eight pages detailing structural specifications, wind load calculations, system certifications, electrical diagrams, and racking layouts.

The plan specifies installation requirements for SolarWorld Sunmodule Plus SW 290-300 MONO solar panels mounted using the Sunfix Plus pitched roof mounting system with Enphase micro-inverters. Key technical requirements include: solar equipment adds less than 4 psf gravity load; two mounting rails required under each module with OEM module clamps at all crossing points; roof attachment via framing methods (QuickmountPV E-Mount or Universal Tile Mount) or S-5 standing seam clamps; maximum roof attachment spacing of 4 feet in pressure zones PZ1 and PZ2, and 2 feet in PZ3 (with no PZ3 usage in Miami-Dade County). The Sunfix Plus system supports 170 mph wind loads and 50 psf snow loads per ASCE 7-05 standards, with roof pitch capability from 0° to 45°. Installation must comply with 2014 Florida Building Code (5th Edition) and 2012 NFPA 1 standards. The plan includes structural details for roof penetration, flashing, and Enphase inverter mounting (rated up to 113 psf, torqued to 16 ft-lbs minimum). SolarWorld modules feature 25-year linear performance warranty and 20-year product warranty, with extreme weather resistance and PID-free certification per IEC 62804-1. The engineer of record is Allen Gezelman, with contact at allen@gezelmanpe.com.

Page 1 - Structural details for the attachment of the OEM racking and mounting system, roof penetration and flashing details and Enphase inverter mounting detail. Page 2 - Wind load calculations. Page 3 - Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) PV system certification. Page 4 -Solar World module and Enphase inverter specifications.

Page 5 - Electrical diagram (3 - 16) module systems.

Page 6 - Electrical diagram (17 - 32) module systems.

Page 7 - Electrical diagram (33 - 40) module systems.

Page 8 - Example of racking layout.

This plan is intended to provide the essential information needed by AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) and installers.

An electronic version (EV) of this plan is available to users to provide easy access to supplemental information. If a conflict should occur between a drawing and / or specification hereon and an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) detail, OEM shall prevail.

1. Solar equipment adds less than 4-psf gravity load to the structure.

2. There shall be two mounting rails under each module.

3. Modules shall attach to the rails using OEM module clamps at all rail to module crossing points.

4. There are two roof attachment methods acceptable under this plan. Method depends on roofing type - see details in drawing figures heron:

a. Framing - shingle and tile

b. S-5 or equivalent standing seam clamp

5. Rails shall attach to L-feet and/or stand-offs, thence to roof by CRS (corrosion resistant steel) lags, hanger bolts, or OEM fasteners through flashings:

i. Framing - Shingle and Tile

1. QuickmountPV E-Mount

2. QuickmountPV Universal Tile Mount

6. PV modules may be instf!lled in PZ1, PZ2, or PZ3.

Maximum center-to-center roof attachment spacing shall be 4-ft in PZ1, 4-ft in PZ2, and 2,-ft in PZ3. There shall be no PZ3 usage within Miami- Dade.

7. Contractor shall provide additional information to AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) as may be required. Such as by Miami-Dade solar guidelines.

SOLAR UNIT (THERMAL OR PV) WIND FORCES

SOLAR UNITS INSTALLED PER THIS PLAN SHALL N.QI FORM PART OF THE BUILDING ENVELOPE LIKE A WINDOW, DOOR, SKYLIGHT, OR BIPV. SOLAR UNITS SHALL BE MOUNTED ABOVE ROOF SURFACE LIKE AN AC CONDENSER, THEREFORE, SOLAR UNITS THUS INSTALLED DO NOT REQUIRE A PRESSURE RATING AS DO ENVELOPE COMPONENTS SUCH AS WINDOWS, DOORS & SKYLIGHTS. SOLAR UNITS SHALL BE MOUNTED VERY CLOSE TO THE ROOF SURFACE, THIS PROVIDES PRESSURE EQUALIZATION BETWEEN THE ROOF SURFACE AND THE BACK OF THE SOLAR UNITS . THIS RESULTS IN NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN THE LOADS ON THE ROOF FRAMING FOR A PARALLEL MOUNT AND MODEST CHANGES IF TILT UP.

HOWEVER, THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMPONENTS OF WIND PRESSURE DECOUPLE, E.G. THE ROOF RESISTS THE INTERNAL WIND PRESSURES AND THE SOLAR UNITS RESIST THE EXTERNAL WIND PRESSURES. THE EXTERNAL WIND FORCES ARE THEN TRANSFERRED TO THE ROOF FRAMES THROUGH THE SOLAR ATTACHMENT HARDWARE.
