About this file
This is a NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) Environmental Checklist for an Automatic Doors Maintenance and Repair project at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Connecticut. The project involves rewriting the existing automatic doors maintenance and repair services contract, scheduled to begin on May 1, 2025. The checklist documents environmental considerations, with most sections indicating no significant environmental impacts, categorized under a Categorical Exclusion (CATEX) #8 for routine repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Key environmental requirements include potential work in the coastal zone (with no deleterious material entering storm drains or the Thames River), consultation with the Cultural Resource Manager before work at Building 883 (which is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places), and management of any regulated waste in accordance with the base's Hazardous Waste Management Plan. The project is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside with a NAICS code of 238290 and a small business size standard of $22 million, involving preventive maintenance and emergency repair services for automatic doors at the naval base and local tenant commands.
