About this file

This file is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for Amendment 3 of the GAOA Lake Winfield Scott Campground Construction RFQ (Solicitation 12445226Q0003). The document addresses contractor inquiries regarding permits, material specifications, and site conditions for the campground reconstruction project located at Blue Ridge Ranger District, Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in Suches, Georgia. Key clarifications include: the Forest Service will obtain all permits at no contractor cost; updated specifications for wood doors and wood frames will be provided to the awarded offeror; and the project shall be bid as designed with alternate materials subject to review and approval during post-award negotiations with the winning contractor. The Q&A confirms the existing Hillman keying system for hardware specifications and clarifies that vegetation removal requirements are subject to Forest Service coordination and approval, with contractors instructed to avoid trees as practical during water main installation per demolition note 8 on drawing CD-101.

The file provides specific responses to approximately 13 inquiries regarding acceptable manufacturers for doors, windows, hardware components (hinges, closers, gasketing, thresholds), and keying systems. Multiple questions referencing Specification Section 087100 regarding manufacturers such as Special-Lite, McKinney, Pemko, Accentra, Sargent, Rockwood, and Norton are directed to answer #14, which advises bidding the project as specified with alternate materials to be considered post-award. A clarification is also provided on Hardware Set D regarding deadbolt specifications with thumb turn interior operation and exterior occupancy indicators, confirming contractors should follow the specification as written.
