Responses to Offeror Questions – Orientation AV Integration

# Question Answer

1 In paragraph C.3.0 Requirements in document J-1

- SOW Orientation AV Integration, it states, “The

Contractor shall be responsible for the integration, purchase, and installation of all A/V hardware in consultation with the design contractor, audio visual contractors, fabricator, and LOC staff.”

Can I assume the Contractor refers to the A/V

System Integrator proposing the project? If so, who are the audio visual contractors, and what is their scope of work?

“Audio visual contractors” has been revised to

“Audio Visual Design Contractor.” See revised attachment J-1 – Statement of work in the amended solicitation.

2 In the same paragraph, it states, “The Contractor shall perform all wiring and cabling within the exhibit physical boundary.” So, can it be assumed that all required cabling that leaves the exhibit physical boundary and terminates in a remote location is the responsibility of others?

The Library will be responsible for all wiring and cabling that leaves the exhibit’s physical boundary and terminates in a remote location. See revised section C.3.0 of the amended solicitation.

3 It is understood that Kubik Maltbie Inc, and Smart

Monkeys Inc. (SMI) created the design for the AV system and the Show Control system. Will they be allowed to propose on the Orientation Gallery, Carriage Entrance, and Welcome Area A/V

Systems Integration Services scope of work?

The Library is not limiting competition.

4 Who will be responsible for the programming and configuration of the Show Control System?

The contractor shall be responsible for the programming and configuration of the Show

Control System. See revised section C.3.10.9 of the amended solicitation.

5 Can the other potential bidders be identified at this time?

No.

6 Confirming that we are able to propose alternate equipment.

Offerors may propose alternate equipment that adhere to the listed salient characteristics and fulfill the requirements described in Section C –

Statement of Work of the solicitation.

7 We are under the impression that lighting schedule and drawings are provided for reference, and that lighting equipment will be procured and integrated by lighting integrator or electrical contractor.

The lighting schedule and drawings are provided for reference. All lighting equipment will be procured and integrated by the Library’s exhibit

Fabrication contractor.

8 Will there be an additional round of RFI submissions pending responses from the first iteration?

The Library does not plan to accept any additional questions beyond the question submission due date stated in the solicitation.

9 Are there any union labor requirements we need to be aware of for on-site installation?

No.

10 Document J1 Section C3.1.2 OG.AV.03 Thomas

Jefferson Library Legacy Film Vignettes, lists a

Bright Sign XD235 media player. I am having a difficult time determining how the media player is supposed to communicate with the ELO E126483

Touch Display since the touch display does not appear to have a network connection and the

Bright Sign XD235 does not have USB ports. Do we need to change the Bright Sign XD235 to the

XD1035 that adds the necessary USB ports?

Yes, the item should be updated to the XD1035 model which supports multitouch. See revised section C.3.1.2 of the amended solicitation.

Responses to Offeror Questions – Orientation AV Integration

Document J1 Section C3.1.3 OG.AV.04 Audio

Remix lists an Akai MD218 pad controller. Is this what is supposed to be integrated into the final exhibit or is this just for prototype purposes?

Please elaborate on this and the sixteen rubberized buttons more (How big should the buttons be etc.)

The AKAI controller can be used for prototyping purposes. The piece integrated into the exhibit will be designed in collaboration with the integrator, the pads/buttons would be approximately the size of those on an “MPC” style drum controller such as the AKAI, which are 30mmx30mm. See revised section C.3.1.3 of amended solicitation.
