Citation header attribute

A one-line Federal Register citation with the document's dates, action, comment deadline, and corrections.

Quote this line when citing a Federal Register document. It leads with the Federal Register citation and publication date and the FR Doc. number, then the action, the effective date, and the comment deadline with whether comments are still open on the day you search. An executive order or proclamation leads with its own number and signing date. A correction names the document it corrects when the Federal Register links them, and a corrected document lists its corrections.

Notes

  • Whether comments are open is worked out on the day you search, so the same document can read (open) today and (closed) later.
