About this opportunity
The City of St. Marys, Georgia's Public Works Department is seeking bids for the St. Marys Welcome Center Improvements Project, a construction procurement located in Candler County. The project involves comprehensive renovation and accessibility improvements, specifically the removal and disposal of the existing entry deck, handicap ramp, and related architectural features, followed by constructing a new CMU stem wall, concrete porch deck, and concrete handicap ramp. Bidders are required to develop and submit detailed design drawings and exhibits to obtain necessary building permits in compliance with state, county, and city building code requirements. The bid opening is scheduled for 2:00 PM EST on September 30, 2025, with a mandatory pre-bid field meeting on September 11, 2025, at 10 AM EST. The contract duration is set at 120 consecutive calendar days from the Notice to Proceed, and participants must submit one original and two copies of bid documents in a sealed envelope. Bid line items include demolition, new CMU stem walls, concrete footings, handrails, columns, concrete walk replacement, and design drawings, with additional bid alternates for stucco stem wall matching and concrete staining/sealing.
The procurement appears to be open to all qualified contractors, with no specific set-aside designations mentioned in the documentation. A 5% bid bond is required, and the City of St. Marys will select the most responsive and responsible bid. Contractors must provide performance and payment bonds and maintain specific insurance coverage. Compliance with nondiscrimination regulations and immigration laws is mandatory. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project—involving demolition, new construction, and detailed design work—suggests a substantial investment in infrastructure improvement. The project focuses on enhancing the Welcome Center's accessibility and aesthetic qualities, with a particular emphasis on creating a compliant and functional entry point that meets current building standards. Potential bidders should carefully review the detailed requirements, demonstrate technical capability in construction and design, and be prepared to meet the strict submission and performance criteria outlined in the invitation to bid.
