About this opportunity
Salt Lake County, through the Division of Clark Planetarium within the Department of Community Services, is seeking multiple qualified fulldome video distributors to license, market, and resell the planetarium's original video content globally. This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) aims to establish non-exclusive distribution contracts for fulldome productions created by Clark Planetarium's production staff. Interested distributors must meet specific minimum requirements, including being located in a territory subject to the World Intellectual Property Organization Copyright Treaty and possessing technical infrastructure for storing and encoding video content. The procurement requires distributors to demonstrate robust marketing and customer service capabilities, with the ability to execute performance license agreements and collect licensing fees. The solicitation has a due date of November 30, 2026, with the resulting contract effective upon execution and set to expire on December 31, 2030.
The contract does not appear to have specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises or restricted organizational types. The distribution agreement is structured with a 70/30 revenue split, favoring Clark Planetarium, with distributors receiving 30% of the gross selling price. Potential contract values will vary based on the number of licenses sold, with educational and entertainment show licenses ranging from $1,500 to $32,000 for one-year terms and $1,900 to $32,000 for 50-year licenses. Distributors will be responsible for their own marketing costs and ensuring licensees secure appropriate music licenses for entertainment shows. The agreement allows for global distribution, with pricing determined by annual attendance or seating capacity, and includes provisions for upgrading from one-year to 50-year licenses by paying the price difference.
