About this opportunity
Bay Arenac Intermediate School District is requesting bids for a dining room addition and interior renovations project, with proposals due October 1, 2026. The project is subject to Michigan prevailing wage requirements.
The scope encompasses a new approximately 2,700-square-foot dining room addition on the east side of the existing Career Center facility in Monitor Township, Bay County, Michigan, with dining room capacity of 78 and total occupant load of 180 persons. Interior renovations include classrooms, offices, kitchen facilities, and support areas. The addition features steel roof joists and beams with metal deck framing on steel columns and conventional spread footings, concrete slab on grade, rooftop mechanical units and ductless mini-split systems, electrical panel upgrades, and fire-life safety improvements including 1-hour and 2-hour rated fire barriers and code-compliant egress. Construction must comply with Michigan Building Code 2021 provisions and include special inspections for concrete, masonry, steel construction, soils work, and cold-formed steel deck per Section 1705.
Structural specifications require concrete (3,000–4,000 PSI compressive strength), ASTM A-992 structural steel (50 KSI), cold-formed metal framing, masonry (2,000 PSI compressive strength), and open-web steel joists. Design loads incorporate 40 PSF live load for classrooms, 100 PSF for corridors and dining areas, 35 PSF ground snow load, 114 MPH basic wind speed, and seismic design category A. All electrical work must comply with 2023 NEC standards; conductors must be copper only; all wiring must be in EMT conduit unless Romex is explicitly allowed. Fire suppression must meet NFPA 13 standards with UL-listed components and wet pipe automatic system design. Hand dryers and other electrical equipment must be UL-FM approved. The fire alarm provider is Summit; coordination with that vendor is required to maintain warranty coverage. Roofing must be 60 mil EPDM membrane fully adhered.
Four addenda have been issued (dated March 25, March 31, June 3, and August 5, 2026) clarifying specifications, prevailing wage rates, electrical requirements, and site conditions.
