About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking information regarding teleradiology physician services to support the VA National Teleradiology Program across over 130 VHA facilities nationwide. The procurement requires board-certified radiologists to interpret approximately 138,000 medical imaging examinations annually, including digital X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound studies. Key requirements include providing teleradiology services primarily between 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time with 24/7 availability on federal holidays, meeting strict credentialing and licensing standards in compliance with VA and American College of Radiology guidelines, ensuring STAT exam interpretations within 45 minutes and routine interpretations within 24 hours, and maintaining secure electronic transmission and storage of patient medical records in accordance with VA Handbook 6500 cybersecurity and information security requirements. While this is a Request for Information only and not a formal solicitation, responses will inform the government's future procurement strategy. Responses are limited to 20 pages and must be submitted via email to Tawana Young (Tawana.Young@va.gov) and Cristine Carmody (Cristine.Carmody@va.gov) by January 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. ET, with respondents required to include their company's Socio-Economic Category and Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
This pre-solicitation notice involves no set-aside designations, and no incumbent contractor information has been identified in the available documents. The anticipated contract period is five years, consisting of a 12-month base year followed by four 12-month option years, with an expected contract start in Q2 FY26. The specific annual volume includes approximately 71,000 digital X-rays, 51,000 CT scans, 5,000 MRI scans, and 11,000 ultrasound studies, reflecting the substantial scope of the teleradiology services required. No specific budget range has been disclosed in this RFI phase. The government seeks detailed information from potential vendors regarding their capabilities, radiologist staffing resources, experience with large-scale health systems, contract type preferences, payment terms, imaging platform security measures, quality assurance processes, and provider qualifications to assess market capacity before issuing a formal solicitation.
