About this opportunity

The National Park Service seeks repair of fire suppression system deficiencies at approximately 40 parkwide locations across Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County, California, with proposals due September 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time. This is a 100 percent Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS 238290.

Place of performance spans four districts: El Portal, Yosemite Valley, Wawona, and Mather. Work encompasses 43 individual fire suppression systems and includes field review of deficiencies, replacement of recalled or outdated components, installation of backflow devices and UL/FM-approved re-piping, and interval testing (5-year internal pipe exams, 3-year leak tests for dry pipe systems, and annual testing per NFPA 25). All repairs must result in passing inspection reports acceptable to the California State Fire Marshal. The contractor must complete all work within 120 calendar days from notice to proceed, with performance commencing within 10 days of notification. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hauling is restricted to vehicles under 45 feet, and one-way controlled traffic applies 20 miles east of Mariposa County due to rockslide repairs. Bear and animal safety protocols apply, prohibiting food items in work trucks.

The contract is awarded on a firm fixed-price basis and requires performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract price. Davis-Bacon prevailing wage rates apply. Contractors must provide a bid guarantee of 20 percent of total proposal price or $3,000,000 (whichever is less); maintain liability insurance of $100,000 per person/$500,000 per occurrence/$100,000 property damage; designate a superintendent and project manager; and submit invoices electronically through the Treasury Invoice Processing Platform. Buy American requirements apply to construction materials. Evaluation weighs price, prior experience with three to five relevant projects within the past five years, and proposed project schedule. Amendment 0002, effective August 25, 2026, clarifies that maximum sprinkler-head access height across all locations is 12 feet, with most access points at standard 8-foot ceiling height.
