About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for repair and maintenance of fire suppression systems at Yosemite National Park across four residential districts.
The work encompasses 40 locations representing 43 individual fire suppression systems across the El Portal, Yosemite Valley, Wawona, and Mather districts in California. The contractor must repair fire system deficiencies identified during annual inspections, including replacing missing signage, air and water gauges, electric bells, recalled sprinkler heads, wrenches, and painted heads; adjusting water flow switches; installing backflow devices and re-piping systems with UL/FM approved components; troubleshooting water flow alarms; and replacing leaking or failing components. All work must comply with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25 standards and achieve passing inspection reports acceptable to the California State Fire Marshal. The contractor is responsible for providing all parts, materials, labor, supervision, management, transportation, and equipment; maintaining adequate workforce; performing field reviews to confirm deficiency validity; conducting required interval testing (5-year internal pipe exams, 3-year leak tests for dry pipe systems, and annual testing); and disposing of all construction debris outside the park. The period of performance is 120 days from notice to proceed. Work shall be performed during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday). The project is subject to hauling restrictions prohibiting vehicles over 45 feet and one-way controlled traffic due to rockslide repairs. The remote location presents connectivity challenges that contractors should anticipate.

Statement of Work Repair Fire Suppression Deficiencies at Parkwide Locations
Objective
Yosemite National Park (YOSE) has a need for repair of fire system deficiencies identified during the annual inspection and testing. After repairs are made to the systems, interval testing and inspections (annual or 5-year) will be performed to achieve a passing report for the fire suppression systems. All required inspections, testing, and maintenance to be performed as per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25, Standard for Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems and all other associated NFPA Standards.
This is considered a remote location, and connectivity can be an issue.
Background
YOSE has over 138 fire suppression systems in buildings parkwide. Each system is inspected each year and deficiencies identified. This project is to bring the fire suppression systems in the El Portal Residences known as the Motor Inn Cabins, Yosemite Valley residences, Wawona District residences, and Mather District residences into compliance with NFPA requirements. This project encompasses a total of 40 locations and represents 43 individual fire suppression systems.
The contractor will perform tasks to rectify the fire suppression system deficiencies identified during the annual inspections. Deficiencies include the following, but not limited to interval testing, replace missing signage, replacing air and water gauges, installing electric bells, replacing recalled sprinkler heads, adding wrenches and heads for head boxes, replacing painted sprinkler heads, adjustment of water flow switches, and performing system inspections with passing reports.
Scope
The contractor shall provide all parts, materials, labor, supervision, management, transportation, and equipment necessary to perform the work.
The contractor shall maintain an adequate workforce to complete the work associated with the contract in a timely manner, within the period of performance.
The contractor shall perform a field review of the deficiencies identified by others (HCI Systems, Inc) and included in this scope for work to confirm their validity and accuracy (see attached).
Contractor shall perform all inspections and testing required at intervals equal to or greater than yearly: including, but not limited to 5 year internal pipe exams, 3 year leak test of dry pipe systems, and annual testing.
All required inspections, testing, and maintenance to be performed as per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 25, Standard for Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems and all other associated NFPA Standards.
The contractor shall provide an inspection report of a passed inspection of all the fire suppression systems that are a part of this contract. The inspection report shall be accepted by the State of California State Fire Marshall.
