About this opportunity

The Special Notice published by the Department of Homeland Security Office of Procurement Operations announces an upcoming Industry Day and Request for Information focused on developing passenger self-screening systems for aviation checkpoints. The DHS Science and Technology Directorate and Transportation Security Administration are collaborating through programs such as the Screening at Speed Apex and Innovation Task Force to pursue this research.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Procurement Operations in support of the DHS Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Physical and Cybersecurity Division and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Innovation Task Force (ITF) welcomes your participation at an upcoming Industry Day and on a Request for Information (RFI) focused on Passenger Self-Screening.

The DHS S&T Physical and Cybersecurity Division Apex Screening at Speed (SaS) Program pursues transformative research and development (R&D) activities that support a future vision for increasing aviation security effectiveness from curb to gate while dramatically reducing wait times and improving the passenger experience.

The TSA ITF fosters innovation by integrating key stakeholders to identify and demonstrate emerging solutions that increase security effectiveness and efficiency, improve passenger experience, and deliver solutions that secure the freedom of movement throughout the nation’s transportation system.

Together, Apex SaS and ITF are collaborating to develop passenger self-screening systems for demonstration and evaluation focused on improving security and enabling a security experience that passengers can complete independently, at their own pace.

The Industry Day will be held on February 12, 2020 at 601 12th St S, Arlington, VA 20598 from 9am to 12:30pm.  Attendees should plan to arrive early to allow for registration and clearing security. The purpose of this Industry Day is to collaborate with attendees to refine and socialize passenger self-screening concepts and to facilitate industry collaboration in order to meet S&T and TSA requirements. Registration will be capped at 2 attendees per company. Space is limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration will close at 3pm on January 24, 2020 for all attendees.
