About this opportunity

The U.S. Air Force Sustainment Center's 848th Supply Chain Management Group is seeking multi-platform sustainment engineering services to support various weapon systems including B-1, B-2, B-52, C-17, E-3, F-15, KC-135, KC-46, and AGM-86 aircraft. The contract requires engineering assistance and solutions from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for issues affecting structures, avionics, accessories, ground support, and commodity items managed by the 848 SCMG. Contractors must possess access rights to OEM internal data systems for all specified weapon platforms to retrieve essential weapon system design data. The Performance Work Statement mandates 100% day-shift coverage with six engineering contract manpower equivalents and requires detailed knowledge of aircraft systems across multiple engineering disciplines. Key performance thresholds include completing over 85% of technical inquiries on time and delivering 95% of deliverables per Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL). The solicitation is anticipated to be issued on September 15, 2025, with responses due by October 14, 2025.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designation and is structured as a sole source award to The Boeing Company, indicating Boeing's unique position as the OEM with requisite data rights and system access. The contract spans a total duration of 66 months, consisting of a one-year base period followed by four one-year option periods and a potential six-month extension. The anticipated contract award date is scheduled for 2026, with work to be performed primarily at the contractor's facility using electronic solicitation procedures. The contract encompasses multiple Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs) covering engineering assignments, program management, onsite engineering support, technical inquiries, and specialized tasks such as B-1 Horizontal Stabilizer technical support and drawing commodity cleanup. While the total contract award amount remains to be determined, the government acknowledges potential barriers to competition and is implementing measures to encourage broader participation through enhanced qualification requirement transparency and vendor assistance tools for the source approval request process.
