About this opportunity
The Department of Justice's Bureau of Prisons Field Acquisition Office is seeking potential contractors to provide comprehensive medical services for federal inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Bennettsville, South Carolina. The procurement will encompass inpatient and outpatient facility and physician services, with a focus on delivering medical care to male inmates. Interested contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and will be evaluated based on their ability to provide comprehensive medical services, small business program eligibility, pricing methodology, centralized billing capabilities, and medical liability insurance levels. The Sources Sought Questionnaire requires detailed responses addressing these criteria, with submissions due by 2:00 PM EST on June 6, 2025, via email to J2gregory@bop.gov. All future acquisition information will be distributed exclusively through sam.gov, and contractors are responsible for monitoring the site for updates.
The procurement does not have a specific small business set-aside, and the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 622110 for General Medical and Surgical Hospitals, with a size standard of $47 million. The anticipated contract structure includes a base year from the effective date of award, followed by four optional 12-month renewal periods. The estimated annual requirements include approximately 65 inpatient days and 1,005 outpatient visits, with pricing methodology based on Medicare reimbursement rates. Contractors can propose discounts or premiums to benchmark rates for Medicare Part A, Part B Physician Services, and Part B Facility Services. While the exact award value is not specified, the comprehensive nature of the services and the potential multi-year contract suggest a significant opportunity for qualified medical service providers specializing in correctional healthcare.
