RFI Questions 1-3

Project: WKVB142002, Repair Fuel Cell Hangar and WKVB139016 Add Fuel Cell Hangar

106th Rescue Wing, Gabreski ANG Base, Westhampton Beach, New York

Q1. The title of SECTION 09 67 23.15, "ELECTRO-STATIC DISSIPATIVE FUEL RESISTIVE RESINOUS FLOORING, 3-COAT SYSTEM", indicates the flooring is intended to have static dissipative (ESD) properties. However, the products listed in SECTION 09 67 23.15, TABLE II, "PRE-APPROVED MATERIALS", are not ESD materials. What products are intended to be installed? Standard/ insulative or ESD flooring?

A1: The design calls for Standard Fuel Resistive Resinous Flooring, 3-Coat System. Electro- Static Dissipative materials are not required.

Q2. The Room Finish Schedule, A-701, indicates that the "EDU", Electrostatic Dissipative Chemical Resistant Urethane, is to be installed only in Rooms 104 and 105. Is this flooring in fact required to be static dissipative?

A2: No, only Standard Fuel Resistive Resinous Flooring, 3-Coat System is required for these rooms. Refer to spec section 09 67 23.15.

Q3. In the Room Finish Schedule, Room 101, Hangar Bay, Flooring, indicates "ETR", Existing Finishes to Remain. And in Paragraph 3.6.4 Coating Systems, "c. Coatings for Surfaces Not Specified Otherwise: Coat surfaces which have not been specified, the same as surfaces having similar conditions of exposure." In SECTION 09 90 00, we see the statement, "3.8 COATING SYSTEMS FOR CONCRETE AND CEMENTITIOUS SUBSTRATES -- Apply coatings of Tables in Division 3, 4 and 9 for Exterior and Interior." Does this mean that the existing hangar floor finishes in Room 101 are to be recoated? If yes, what is the existing finish? Does it have static dissipative properties?

A3: No, the existing hangar floor is not scheduled to be recoated. However, if the floor is damaged during the course of construction due to demolition or construction related activities or if areas are uncovered that were not previously coated, then patching and repairing to match existing adjacent flooring is required. Base to confirm existing coating system which is assumed to be a fuel resistive resinous coating system.

A1: The design calls for Standard Fuel Resistive Resinous Flooring, 3-Coat System. Electro- Static Dissipative materials are not required.
A2: No, only Standard Fuel Resistive Resinous Flooring, 3-Coat System is required for these rooms. Refer to spec section 09 67 23.15.
