This action may be requested to determine if the contractor is responsible.

11. BRAND NAME JUSTIFICATION: A Brand Name Justification for the use of ADB LED Taxiway Lights (ADB-L-861 Series). See Brand Name Justification attached to solicitation and posted to FBO.gov.

Summary:

The Airfield Lighting SGRS Electrical Power Source Regulators have been recently contracted, and are currently being upgraded with an ADB Safegate CCR Airfield lighting power distribution system. The ADB Safegate CCR Airfield lighting power distribution system was previously chosen as it’s the only known system that is backwards compatible to currently installed ADB Air Field Lighting Electrical Vault System at Selfridge ANGB.

The existing Airfield Lighting fixtures are at their end of their service life, with spare components difficult to obtain.

The lack of spare components and their dwindling availability, gravely jeopardizes the safe and effective flight line operations of Selfridge Air National Guard Base. The existing lighting fixtures need to be replaced with ADB fixtures to maintain system compatibility with the current ADB Safegate Constant Current Regulator Airfield lighting power distribution system. Compatibility will be an issue for a NON ADB product attached to our current lighting system.
